NOTE: He is almost certainly the Charles who left Plymouth on the Eastern Empire on 26 March 1864 bound for Port Adelaide where he arrived on 20th June 1864. H ewas aged 23, married, English. He was listed as a labourer of Northamptonshire in one place but a shoemaker in two other places. He came to South Australia as an assisted passenger paying 4 pounds for his fare, 3 pounds for his wife and one and a half pounds for his daughter. He did not declare any relatives in South Australia. On the boat was his wife Jane and child Fanny. Shipping agent Thomas Jay & James B Willcock, Registry of Application no.8323. Hi religion is listed as as Congregationalist. Information from Bruce Wooding, who names an additional seven Australian children.
