NOTE he and his pregant wife set sail for Australia from Southampton on the Meteor on 17 Mar 1853. They then had three children with them, a fourth was born on the voyage. The arrived in Sydney on 3 July 1853. He was listed as a carpenter & joiner, born Newent Gloucester. Both parents were dead. He could read and write, and the family paid five pounds 10 shillings for the trip. He was listed only as Richard Nurthen here. The names of his parents on this record match what I had known previously.
