NOTE Mary McGinnis says they figure that "he was baptized just prior to coming over .... you can hear mother pleading, "What if something happens to you?" It has been told that he returned twice to England - the last time being to get his mother. The story also goes that he got to New York, told the trainmaster that he had "this much money, take me as far as I can go." I feel that whatever he had - he probably got ripped off - as I learned this summer that the train ended it's run where he got off. From the obit " He came with friends to New London, Ohio, and soon afterward found his way to Wakeman, Ohio." Then being a winsome young fellow endeared himself to an Irishman by the name of Johnston REA. Worked on his farm, married his daughter and got the land." She says that he arrived in America 5 Apr 1872.
