This section is taken from research into various Shakeshaft families, starting with those found in my research of the parish of Ashton. To these have been added families from Cosgrove and elsewhere in Northamptonshire as well as in Buckinghamshire.
There are 363 names in the file at the moment. One third of these have been provided with notes by Frank Shakeshaft, as has the other information about family members away from the villages I have studed.
Other material has come from Allan Smith and from various contribitors via the IGI (International Genealogical Index maintained by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). Acknowledgement of material provided by others is given in the notes to individual names. 42 names have also been added of American descendants of William and Rebecca (Tew)Shakeshaft who emigrated from Ashton.
I have regularised the spelling of all names to Shakeshaft. Where other spellings were used in the records this is noted in the notes to their names.
